On our way out of town we decided to stop at the Utah Truffle Factory. They were kind enough to give us a tour.
Jake Cavanaugh showed us around. His father, Keith, is the founder of Utah Truffles. In the back ground you can see the big drums where they mix the centers of the truffles.
After they mix the centers they pour it onto these tables to cool.
Once they are cooled down and have hardened they cut them. The (so darling I could just squeeze the crap out of him) guy doing the cutting is the founder of Utah Truffles :)
My boys favorite part was this next step where the centers get covered in chocolate!
My oldest decided to bring a notebook to take notes so he could write a report to share at school. Dude. He already had a mondo huge bag of homework and he CHOSE to add to it :) I Love that kid.
We got to taste test a new kind of truffle that they will be making. It was white chocolate flavored with lemon oil. Now, I have to tell you. I only tried one to be nice. I hate lemon flavored things. I would rather eat my own hair than a lemon meringue pie. BUT, this truffle was to die for amazing!!! And I am not just saying that. It was seriously one of the best things I have ever eaten. The lemon was subtle and it instantly melted in your mouth. I am impatiently wait ting for them to hit store shelves.
My boys thought they were pretty tricky for being able to “make” them.
Here is where they package the truffles in those shiny gold wrappers that make me feel like I have found the golden ticket every time I open one :)
And here are my 2 favorite things in the world….. My kids and Chocolate!!!
Thanks for being patient with me as I travel and I don’t always have access to internet. I am painting rooms here at my Brother-in-law’s house but have not done anything crazy amazing yet that warrants pictures. I will keep you posted :)
