Blogging Conference Ticket Giveaway

I just found out about a blog conference here in Salt Lake City  that takes place in March. It is called Story @ Home. There are 3 tracks: family history, story telling, and the ins and outs of blogging.

We are constantly telling stories. At Sunday dinner with my family we all tell stories of our lives throughout the week. My kids write imaginative fictional stories all the time and then read them to their younger brothers and friends. We tell stories at lunch with our friends.  We read other people’s stories in books. We all LOVE a good story! As bloggers we are also telling stories. We share bits and pieces of ourselves everyday with our readers. The more effective you are at telling your story, the more you will connect with people.

I love the idea of a conference that helps us tell our stories more effectively. I can’t wait to go! And guess what??? I get to give away one ticket to this fun conference!

The Conference will take place on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 8-10th. There will be experts in each field there to speak to us, there will be classes, and there will be workshops.

The ticket price for the conference is $79.00 for the whole weekend! And the Plaza Hotel is partnering with them and offering rooms for only $79.00 a night. They will also be giving you coupons for discounts to local restaurants. This a VERY reasonably priced conference and if you live in the area or are going to be visiting, you won’t want to miss it!

*To enter to win one Ticket to the Conference ( a value of $79.00) please leave a comment telling me why you would want to attend this conference.

Extra entries:

* “like” Story @ Home on Facebook

* Spread the word about this by tweeting it

* Spread the word by posting on Facebook

* Spread the word by posting about it on your blog

PLEASE leave a separate comment for each thing you do to increase the odds of you winning.

* Don’t wait to see if you’ve won before purchasing your conference pass! Seating is limited and the conference may sell out before a winner is announced. If you purchase a ticket and then win, you will be issued a refund for your ticket price.
* Also, Story@Home is offering a Sweetheart Special. Everyone who registers by February 14th will be entered into a drawing. The winner will receive 2 tickets (one refund for her and a ticket for someone she loves).

Good luck!!!

  1. This sounds like a great conference and I would just LOVE to go. There are many reasons I would like to go – first off I love family history. I have great family history but never have done anything with it – and I want to. I love to tell stories and when I am with someone in person I do fine with telling stories – but writing them down, I am just not so good at. So I would love to go and learn. Another reason is I have never been to a conference and would love to experience this. I am signed up to go to the Snap Conference and I am so nervous about it. Going to this conference first would give me a bit more experience with the whole conference thing :) Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  2. I like story@home on facebook! Thanks!

I would love to go to this conference! I don’t know all the much about family history research and so on and would love to learn more and I could always use help with blogging! The storytelling also sounds very interesting and I think this would be a fabulous weekend to get to meet others and learn more about the way we record our family’s journey!

I have just started blogging again after over a year break, My little blog is soooo very new I need LOTS of help! The reason I need help is because I’d like to reach as many people with chronic illnesses (like me) as possible to help them find joy and fulfillment while coping with pain. Anyway, this conference might be just the thing I need to get some momentum!

I would love to go to improve my personal blogging and I have just begun working for a social networking consultant and am writing blog posts for his clients. Sounds like a wonderful conference and I’ve never gotten to do anything like that before.

I would love ideas about family journal type blogs – plus I’ve always wanted to go to a blog conference. Thanks!

  19. kimber says:

Man, I would love to go to this conference. Sadly, I’m not exactly in the neighborhood, and since the Mister still doesn’t understand blogging, storytelling, or why in the world I would want to share my heart for the entire world to see, I hardly think he’d happily cough up money for plane fare or a hotel. Sad face. I’ve always wanted to go to Utah. :( I hope you have a fantastic time at the conference. You’ll have to come back and tell us all about it!

  20. Tam says:

I would love to attend this conference because I LOVE FAMILY HISTORY…and have some neat stories to share – some spiritual experiences. I think it’s important to share stories. I took a course in Children’s Literature several years ago, because I wanted to write childrens books. I would also love to learn some blogging ideas and tips. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.

  22. I am trying to grow my blog & I’m on the watch for conferences & ways to better myself. I’d love this opportunity! Thanks for the chance to win a ticket.

    Warmly, Michelle

  23. Adrian says:

I would love to attend a conference like this. So many blogging conferences focus so much more on monetizing, but I like the focus on story telling. I do pretty well on the “how to” type posts, but not so much on storytelling posts that are more personal and more about my life.

  24. Oh My Word! I had no idea that there was a conference like this out there… This would be an amazing experience for me. Truthfully I need this in my life right now! I’ve been lettings little things get in the way of my hopes and dreams and I have been feeling very discouraged. Sometimes you need a little reminder to have faith. Which is something I have been struggling with. I would also love to write more about my story and my faith on my blog{ I sometimes think that I will get judged by others or criticized on this topic}, Anyways, I love Family History and learning about my past. I’ve been wanting to go to a conference so bad but is not within our budget right now… If I had to choose I would go to this one for sure.

PS: This post was just what I needed today… And thank you so much for the opportunity Stacy :)

I would love to enter, but not for me. My younger sister who has a brain injury has discovered blogging as a wonderful outlet for her writing/ geneological fiction. One of my other sisters is already attending and I’ve love to win a ticket for this sister to attend with her. Knowing the parties involved, there is no way that this won’t be an amazing conference!

  41. I’ve never been to a blogging conference and would love to go to one to learn how to be a better blogger! I just can’t justify the cost unless I win a giveaway.:)

  44. I would love to attend this conference. For too many reasons. I live in Provo, so the conference is close to me. I am passionate about telling my story and what I believe in. I would love to learn how to do that better on my blog and in real life. I would also like to gain more knowledge about family history and the different ways to go about it, when you feel overwhelmed.

I would love to go to this conference! It’s right up my alley, I am looking to better my blog and I am just learning about how to do family history! Both are a bit addicting though my blog has been hard becase there are some things I want to do that I can’t figure out, or are easier on facebook, etc. so this could really be just what I need, not to mention that I would like to blog about my family history on a new blog I think.

  49. Janel says:

I posted on Twitter under my blog (Lykkeligkvinde) name. I really want to win! It would be exactly what I am looking for, plus i”m helping with a trek this year where we are suppose to encourage others to find stories about their family history and share those stories, PERFECT!

  56. Julie Nowak says:

I know my chances of winning are pretty slim, but I’m going to try…
My father was an amazing story teller. I’m OK, but no where near as good as he was. But it inspired me. I have been trying to figure out how to teach people, everyday people, how to tell their stories, and the stories in their families, for the generations to come. I am trying to put on a county wide genealogy fair for our local county and I have asked around if people would be interested in a class on how to tell your stories. I’ve gotten overwhelming interest, so now I’m scared to death wondering how I’m going to do this. I need help. If I win, I will bring back what I learn and try to teach others.

I am in North Carolina. But I do have family in Spanish Fork, Utah. It would sure be a big deal if I could attend, learn, and bring it back here to help others tell the stories of their family’s lives, instead of just the names and dates of genealogy. I know this is important and I hope to find a way to do it.

    Thanks for listening,
    Julie Nowak
